Our goal is an injury-free workplace where everyone goes home safely while completing challenging projects on time and within budget. To help us meet this guiding principle, California Erectors is committed to extensive training of employees and supervision. It starts with ownership that is committed to Safety and Quality. At CEI, we empower employees using the correct equipment with specific expectations to complete the job safely and efficiently without sacrificing quality.
Our Superintendents facilitate weekly safety tailgates at a minimum and they are specific to steel construction. We also do jobsite specific training identifying and eliminating the specific issues on that jobsite. Issues and solutions that benefit the entire organization are distributed and shared with the entire workforce.
California Erectors utilizes an outside consultant to review and supplement our efforts. Jobsite audits are done frequently by our Safety Manager and we request our insurance company to audit the jobsites to provide a different perspective. All of this is done with the full support of ownership including review of performance from the apprentice to ownership. These efforts have resulted in behavioral changes such as implementing 100% tie off above 6 feet on all jobsites.
California Erectors has also adopted and implemented a Drug-Free Workplace Program which includes random testing. This was done with full cooperation of local unions.
